DVD Compatibility

IMPORTANT NOTE - Please read this note BEFORE you order your DVDs as it may help you avoid buying the wrong product by mistake.

Please note that DVD compatibility can change from DVD writer/player to DVD writer/player and also can be dependant upon the version of the firmware in the case of the DVD writer!

It is not uncommon to find that a DVD 'burnt' on the computer's DVD writer will not play on a DVD player connected to the TV at home. Older DVD players are more renowned for this problem than newer DVD players. If you want a DVD to play in a particular DVD player then you should purchase just one or two discs of various brands and try them out to see which ones work. When you find one that works keep using it until the discs are no longer available from the manufacturer (this could be as short as 4 to 6 months).

Causes for a DVD disc not being recognized by the DVD writer in your computer can often be down to the firmware version that is being used on the DVD writer. As new DVDs are launched onto the market with new dyes and faster speeds the manufacturers of the DVD writers tend to offer newer firmware on their web sites to enable their DVD writers to use the new discs. Sometimes this new firmware can help solve problems of writing to particular discs which can improve the percentage of discs which are not able to be written to.

Only upgrade your DVD writer's firmware as per the manufacturers instructions. CDR Media Limited takes no responsibility for any problems that might occur when updating DVD writer's firmware. Updating the firmware is undertaken entirely at you own risk!
